Practical Test: More Real Roads, Less Drills

• Fewer stops: Down to 3 per test (from 4), so expect longer stretches on dual carriageways like the A40 or A312 – just like your Hayes/Uxbridge routes.
• Emergency stops rarer: Now 1 in 7 tests only (was 1 in 3). We focus on scanning ahead, not isolated manoeuvres.
• Full independent driving: Up to 40 minutes on sat nav/signs – perfect prep for solo post-test drives on West London’s roundabouts and merges.​

Theory Test: You’re a First Responder Now
New 2026 questions test CPR, defibrillators and bleeding control – drivers as crash-scene heroes. I weave Highway Code refreshers into every lesson, alongside hazard clips, so you’re ready for both theory and the road.
Booking Overhaul: Spring 2026 RulesBacklog-busting changes:

• You book alone: No more instructor logins – GOV.UK direct from your phone.
• 2 changes max: Date/time/centre swaps limited.
• Local centres: Stick to Hayes, Uxbridge, Greenford – no jumping to Sidcup.

My tip: We hunt fast-track cancellations (often days notice) while you nail mocks. Theory passes hold 2 years – book early!

Minimum Learning Period: 3–6 Months Coming?
DfT consultation (to March 2026) proposes mandatory 3/6-month gap post-theory, with logged hours (lessons + practice) and syllabus tracking. Not law yet, but shifts us from pure “crash courses” to structured plans. DVSA baseline: 45 pro lessons + 22 private for success – I tailor blocks to hit it.
From my seat, these changes reward prepared learners. Nerves and unfamiliar cars cause most fails – we fix that with door-to-door tuition in modern dual-controls.
